Sports physicals will be offered June 30 at the New High School. With the help of several physicians in the community, physicals will be offered from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and will cost $10.

Thirty Garden City High School athletes competed in the 2012 State Weightlifting Competition in Wichita. Twenty-seven  lifters placed for Garden City at the meet. Seven lifters were named state champions including Jayden Delarosa (156 Bench Press) and Gabe Luna (242 Bench Press.) Two lifters set state records at the meet. More Boys Results

Sideliners will sponsor a hamburger feed Monday, May 21, for all players who plan to go out for football in the fall. The hamburger feed will begin at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

The past two weeks saw yet another group of Garden City football team members sign letters of intent to continue their playing careers. Senior quarterback Jake Curran will be throwing passes next season for Garden City Community College as he signed February 9 with the Broncbusters. Running backs John Lamb and Antonio Rubio signed on February 14 to join Curran at Garden City Community College. That makes a total of eight players now to sign with college football programs from the 7-3 Buffaloes squad that made its way into the Class 6A state quarterfinals last season.

Wednesday, Feb. 1 marked Signing Day across the country for many high school athletes including several senior football players from Garden City High School. The Buffaloes are sending five players to compete at the collegiate level after a season that saw Garden City finish with a 7-3 record and advance to the Class 6A state quarterfinals where they fell to Wichita Heights.

Linemen Miguel Andrade and Jason Carreon and placekicker Carlos Chavez signed on Wednesday to play for the Garden City Community College Broncbusters next season. Senior defensive back Asa Gottsponer signed to become a member of the Dodge City Community College football team. In addition, Gabe Luna of the Buffaloes graduated from high school at the end of the fall semester and is currently enrolled at Butler Community College where he is expected to play along the offensive or defensive lines for the Grizzlies.

Brian Hill will be the Head Coach for Kansas Shrine Bowl West squad.

Senior Gabe Luna has been voted to the Kansas Shrine Bowl West Squad.
